Directing
I first became interested in directing after taking a Playwriting and Directing class my sophomore year. I loved that directing brought together leadership and working with people.
I’ve directed four shows, starting with a play I wrote myself, Read My Mind, where I had full creative freedom over every part of the production.
After that, I directed Treasure Island and was also the fight choreographer, which taught me a lot about giving feedback to a large group.
In Into the Woods, I took on dance choreography and costume management, which helped me connect more deeply with the actors and their character work.
I’m currently directing The Alibis, where I’m focused on managing the overall production.
While directing can be overwhelming at times, I love the teamwork and creativity. My goal is to keep growing as a director and eventually lead a large production on my own.
